Near the end of a recent performance, I had a thought no magician wishes to have:

“I don’t think there’s going to be any magic at the end of this magic show!”

In magic we are always ready for plan B, C and D.

But occasionally something happens that we simply hadn’t considered. And if it happens on stage, there’s no time to pop off and have a wee think. You have to deal with it in front of everyone.

I think the best performers aren’t the ones who haven’t experienced this kind of failure.

The best are those who have survived it.

Often, the dread is worse than the thing itself. Once it happens and we get through it, we are a little less frightened of it happening again.

The fear has a little less power over you.
